How do Catholics speak of "getting saved"?

My wife and I recently started RCIA and have attended mass the past two Sundays. I was speaking with my Free Will Baptist mother this afternoon. She of course doesn’t understand Catholicism except for the parodies she’s believed without reason her whole life. Her main comment today was, “I’m okay if you and your wife want to be Catholic, but what about your kids? I want them to get saved.”

How do I approach this issue? How do I explain that Catholics have a surety of salvation as well?
