How does an individual or family, unable to go to Mass, fulfill the Sunday precept if their movement is restricted?

I’d imagine that if you are under quarantine you’d be excused from the Sunday obligation to attend mass.

People under quarantine are automatically dispensed from their obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.

Same thing regarding people who are sick and/or who need to take care of people who are sick.

As said above, if you’re under quarantine, you no longer have a Sunday obligation so long as the quarantine lasts. God is not going to expect you to endanger your health or the health of others to get to Mass.

If we are unable to attend Mass due to illness or other medical reason, the obligation is dispensed. I had surgery on Friday, I did not attend Mass yesterday. I have no guilt about not going because I know I was dispensed. My priest knew I wasn’t going to be there as he gave me an anointing Thursday.

If people are in quarantined, they are unable to attend Mass. There is no sin. If I makes you feel better send an email to your priest.

As they said, if you’re under quarantine, you are not obligated. Even if you aren’t but are extremely ill (flu, etc), you aren’t obligated.

I would recommend finding online mass and say the rosary before or after for those suffering from the Corona virus.

May god bless you and your family during this period.

As others have mentioned, your obligation is dispensed for such a just cause. There’s nothing specific you have to do, but you still need to keep the Lord’s Day Holy. Reading the readings and praying the prayers of the people or following a Mass online, praying the Rosary, doing spiritual reading, etc. Whatever works.

I am under Corona virus home restrictions atm and have missed 2 Sundays. The Pope has started broadcasting Masses specifically so home lockdowns and restricted people can watch as one aim. 16 million Italians are in lockdown. Great to watch these events at any time, but really good now, and we get the blessing if we watch the Mass live, I think that still counts for a later watching, not sure. A priest will know.

If we cannot go, we cannot go, pray and be a good obedient Catholic at home. This will not last forever.
