How do I clean the precious blood off clothing?

My son accidentally dripped eucharistic wine on his shirt when receiving Communion this past Sunday. What is the proper handling of this garment? It doesn’t seem appropriate to simply throw it in the laundry. I would appreciate your feedback and direction. Thank you.

Soak the shirt in a basin of water, then launder as usual. The basin of water should be emptied into the earth (e.g., garden, backyard).
