How do I properly clean my surplice? There are a few drops of precious blood on my surplice how do I properly clean it?

Soak it in water for a couple days until the stain is no longer visible. Pour the water into the ground somewhere, like in a flowerbed. Wash the surplice as normal.

I’d check with your pastor but when I was an alter sever and got precious blood on me. We soaked it in water to the stain lifted off and then pour the water outside in the grass.

I’m pretty sure you need to wash it in the sacrarium

No, that’s not always possible - see my earlier post that our parish doesn’t even have a sacrarium, and we can’t be the only one.

It would be good practice to rinse the garment in the sacrarium, purely because there would be no extra complication of taking the water outside and finding a piece of ground or flower-bed which isn’t walked on. But it doesn’t have to be.

As to actual washing, once any garment, purificator , whatever, has had any Precious Blood rinsed off, they can be washed in a washing-machine.

Our parish has a a sacrarium but we own the cassock and surplice we were the one to pay for it with a little help from father so were also the one to take it home and iron it (to be fair sometimes our parents are the one to do those things)

Well of course you can’t wash it in the sacrarium if you don’t have a sacrarium.

Growing up, our church was so old we didn’t even have running water so we had to haul jugs or water over from the rectory.

Post #2 by one of the good members of our clergy explained perfectly how to handle this.
