My father calls himself a Catholic and says he believes but for some reason, he always makes excuses as to why he can’t go. Today he said he needs to see a football match, then my mother recommended that we go to a mass session at 5:30 pm long after the game is over and he said he wants to relax and doesn’t want to go. Any ideas on how I can convince him to go to mass with us?

By being an example to him, not by nagging him, or telling him he should be going. He knows. I don’t know how old you are, but you probably should not be correcting your parents.

Just make sure you don’t miss mass and perhaps one day he will see how it affects your life and want the same for himself.

Pray for him, and give it up to God to allow the Holy Spirit to move him.

Watch the series Word on Fire youtubes by Bishop Barron. He discusses the right way and the wrong way to evangelise.

Get a Green Scapular(s), have it/them blessed by your priest, and put it/them in the living/family room (wherever he watches tv) and ask your mom to put one in their bedroom. Most of all, pray the Green Scapular prayer:

“Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.”

This is what they look like: https://www.greenscapular.com/
