How do I explain the Church's use of money?

I teach conformation and this year the kids are OBSESSED with the money that the catholic church collects. I explained them that it goes to many charities, to pay the church’s bills, etc but they keep wondering for example why getting married is so expensive or why do they have to pay for the classes or the retreats, etc. Is there any article o what can I use to explain them better where does the collection money goes?.
