I’m typing up a book I wrote by hand (the old fasioned way - with pen and paper !) and I’d like to get the imprimateur, and (the other word that designates that it is approved by the Catholic church).

How do I do this ? Where do I submit my book to be reviewed for the ‘approved Catholic’ designation ?

Any good information on this topic is invited !

I don’t know all the ins and outs of it tbh but I believe your bishop would need to give it a nihil obstat first… nothing objectionable, before it could be assessed for imprimatur. I’d suggest contacting your diocese to get a clearer picture.

It’s writings from a long pilgrimmage I did, 4 years looking for a community to join to become a nun. It’s stories of things I saw, things I went through, things I learned, prayers of joy and panic, and Catholic understandings that developed based on the experiences I was living.

It does NOT contain Catholic teachings based on books or from the Catholic heirarchy, as in, the gathered Catholic knowledge that is available.

The Church only offers the NI and I for works of Theology, Devotions, etc.

Personal memoirs are just that. You may ask a priest you know, or your Bishop if they will write a blurb for the cover.

Have you joined the Catholic Writer’s Guild? They have a Seal of Approval that is specifically for works of fiction, memoirs, etc.

I’ve never even heard of the Catholics Writer’s Guild ! Thank you for the introduction.

Seems like you might just seek out Catholic Publishing companies and let them take it from there.
