About nine years ago I met someone who I feel today coerced me into dabbling with Santeria. Her husband was a “high priest” or babalawo in the religion and they prepared an elegua for me and another article that is a cauldron with some tools. They said it would protect me and my business; and, if I ever chose not to honor them, I needed to dispose of the tools in the water, i.e. a river. I am embarrassed about this and try not to remember this time in my life. I never got rid of the items but left them in my office at work. I am self-employed so no one ever saw them. How should I get rid of these things? Should I do it as I was told to, or should I burn them? My husband knows nothing of this, so I cannot readily burn something in my house. Please help!

Give the tools to a Catholic priest, tell him what they are, and ask him to dispose of them for you. If you have not already done so, at the same time you can go to confession for dabbling in Santeria. God bless.
