I’m confused on catholic and Christian do Catholics believe in the intercession of Mary but isn’t Jesus the only one that does intercession of our prayers. I’m catholic but I don’t understand because many Christians say its a form of idolatry and that we worship the Mother Mary cause we do the Rosary but I believe its cause we say our thanks to her if Mary does Intercession also then what is the role of Jesus I know he has a big role but I’m confused I know he died for our sins but I don’t know how to include him in my life do I pray to Jesus? or to God? Do I try to learn his ways and try to follow as Jesus would throughout life I don’t understand how to include him more cause I want to and I’m learning more about him in the bible but I want to have him in my life more

You can pray to God and Jesus. Saying the rosary is a good thing as well.

It’s great that you want to make Jesus a more important part of your life! That desire is the first step 🙂
We encounter Jesus in the Bible, so reading the Bible is great too. Listen to His words and hear Him speak to you.
Prayer of course is essential for having a relationship with Jesus. Of course you should pray to Jesus. He is always with us, so it is good to take some time throughout the day to be aware of His presence.
The highest form of prayer is the Mass, because at Mass, we encounter Jesus who is present, body, blood, soul and divinity in the Eucharist. He loves us so much and wants so much to be a part of our life that He becomes our food!
if Mary does Intercession also then what is the role of Jesus
Intercession = praying for someone. When I ask you to pray for me, you are interceding for me. Mary, being the Mother of God, loves us and her son very much, so we can be assured that she will pray for us and want what is best for us.
Mary is not God. Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity, who came to earth as a human being so that He could reveal to us God’s love and die for our sins. Only Jesus, who is both God and human, could die for our sins. In dying for our sins, He restores the broken relationship between us and God.
I’m catholic but I don’t understand because many Christians say its a form of idolatry and that we worship the Mother Mary cause we do the Rosary but I believe its cause we say our thanks to her if Mary does Intercession
We don’t worship Mary. We respect her as our mother, we look up to her as an example of the perfect disciple of Jesus. When we pray the Rosary, we ask Mary to pray for us, and we pray with Mary, meditating on the life of Jesus with her. Ultimately, the focus is on Jesus. Mary always brings us to her son.

Hope this made sense. I used to have a lot of similar questions too, before I knew much about our faith. God bless 🙂

The role of “intercessor” is one who asks God to help us, also called “praying for us” since the word “pray” originally meant “to ask”.

So if the Virgin Mary is our intercessor, it means she prays to God for us. That is why we say, “Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners” in the Hail Mary.

Jesus is God (he’s the second person of the Trinity ), so he can never be an intercessor because the role of intercessor is to pray to God for us, so he’d be praying to himself for us, which makes no sense. We never say, “Jesus, pray for us” for this reason. Instead, we say “Jesus, have mercy on us.” Or “Precious Blood of Jesus, save us.”

To sum up: an intercessor is a saint who prays to God (in any one of the three persons of the Trinity) for us.
Mary and the other saints and angels are our intercessors.
Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God the Father are not saints or intercessors. They are God.

We can pray directly to God the Father, Jesus and/or the Holy Spirit for our needs.
We can also ask an intercessor like Mary or a saint to pray for us to God/ Jesus/ Holy Spirit.
Usually we would do both things -pray to God ourselves, AND Ask an intercessor so we have extra help in praying.

[1] I’m confused on catholic and Christian do Catholics believe in the intercession of Mary but isn’t Jesus the only one that does intercession of our prayers. Thanks for asking. Because space is so restricted here on CAF I have to be brief

[1] Yes Mary as the MOTHER of Jesus {God} is the most perfect Intercessor. While it is correct to SAY that we “pray to” Mary a more-correct- understanding is that we are praying “THROUGH” Mary to JESUS, as ALL Catholic prayers end with GOD.

[2] Jesus is the ANSWER to our prayers; not really the intercessor with is metaphorically expressed in the bible.

[3] Catholics use Intercessory prayer because: Mary & the Saints accept our petitions, then ADD their own on top of ours and personally present them to Jesus for us; making them more effective. … Eucharistic Adoration is a GREAT way too.

[4] For non-Catholics and those considering the CC there is no substitute for VERY much prayer. … For Catholics FREQUENT Mass and Holy Communion is the way to accomplish your worthy goal.

Keep asking questions,
Patrick

Saying the Rosary doesn’t mean you’re “worshipping Mary”. Only God is worshipped. Jesus gave Mary to us to be our “spiritual mother”. The rosary is the same prayer as what the angel Gabriel said to Mary. It’s a prayer for us to say to her, as those in heaven can be prayed to.
