How Do I Know Which Mass?

I am thinking about going to a EF chapel next Saturday for First Saturday. There are no programs at this chapel. How do I know which Mass the priest will be offering? Is there a particular one?

My missal is from 1961 and the calendar only goes up to 1981!

Hi Mary 1973 - If my reading of my Missal is right, next Saturday 7th March is Ember Saturday (Saturday of first week in Lent). The introduction to the Proper of the Mass in my St Andrews Daily Missal says: “The station is at St Peter’s. in this basilica at the Vatican the ordinations were formerly held, preceded by a long night vigil. The lessons at today’s Mass are a relic of those read formerly during the night.” There are 4 Lessons and an Epistle given, but no Gospel, as follows:
1st Lesson: Deuteronomy 26: 12-19
2nd Lesson: Deuteronomy 11: 22-25
3rd Lesson: 2 Machabees 1: 23-26, 27
4th Lesson: Ecclesiasticus (Sirach) 36: 1-10
Epistle: 1 Thessalonians 5: 14-23

I haven’t heard this Saturday Mass in the traditional rite, so I’m not the best person to advise, but, God willing, others more informed than I will add to the thread. Good Night and God Bless.
 
If the vestments are violet, then the priest is offering the Ember Saturday in Lent Mass. If the vestments are white then he is offering the Votive Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady, for the First Saturday.

He cannot offer the Votive since the Ember Days are II Class according to the 1961/2 rubrics.

You can’t have the Mass (OF or EF) without the Gospel.

Period.
 
The Gospel is the same as the next day, the Second Sunday of Lent, Mt.17: 1-9.

I believe that the First Friday Mass of the Sacred Heart and the First Saturday Mass of the Immaculate Heart may be celebrated, so long as the Ember Day Mass had been celebrated earlier in the day.
