Can you explain these verses. A friend who tells me we have no free will, that we were predestined from the foundation of the world to be saved or condemned. If our names are not written in the book of life from before the world was created we are doomed. He quotes these verses to support his claim. the phrases ?if that were possible? in Mt and ?from the foundation of the world? and ?whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world? in Rev. seem to lend credence to his claim. How do I respond?

MT 24:24 False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect.

Rev 13:8 All the inhabitants of the earth will worship it, all whose names were not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life, which belongs to the Lamb who was slain. 13:9 Whoever has ears ought to hear these words. 13:10 Anyone destined for captivity goes into captivity. Anyone destined to be slain by the sword shall be slain by the sword.

Rev 17:8 The beast that you saw existed once but now exists no longer. It will come up from the abyss and is headed for destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world shall be amazed when they see the beast,

Thank you very much,

Hello Frank,

Time is the measurement of change bettween mass, energy and empty space which our Spiritual God created. God exists outside of time. God is Omni-Present to the whole of physical time which He created.

The book of the living is spiritual and therefore omni-present to the whole of physical time also. After Jesus judges the free-willed conduct of men at the end of time, He will write down the names of the living and scratch out the names of those once baptized or circumcised into life but then they returned to unrepentant sin and death. This spiritual, omni-present list written down and modified upon judgement day by Jesus, exists spiritually from before creation.

Please visit Jesus Loves God for a comparison of human free willed choices and eternal Omni-Presence from before creation to beyond the end of time.

**EXO 32:30 **

On the next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a grave sin. I will go up to the LORD, then; perhaps I may be able to make atonement for your sin.” So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Ah, this people has indeed committed a grave sin in making a god of gold for themselves! If you would only forgivetheir sin! If you will not, then strike me out of the book that you have written." God tells Moses that He will not strike his name out of the eternal book of life. It is only the wicked who do not repent who will not enter into Christ’s peace.

The LORD answered, "Him only who has sinned against me will I strike out of my book. Now, go and lead the people whither I have told you. My angel will go before you. When it is time for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin." Thus the LORD smote the people for having had Aaron make the calf for them.

**NAB REV 3:5 **

"The victor will thus be dressed in white, and** I will never erase his name from the book of life** but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and of his angels. God’s eternal book of those who live eternally. LUK 10:20 REV 13:8 REV 17:8 REV 20:12 REV 20:15 REV 21:27
