How do I reply to someone who says “if there is a god why do you rely on doctors when your sick or sore why not pray to your god for healing”

“God gives us rational minds and expects us to use them. God works through physicians!”

I do pray for myself and others when sick. God uses doctors as one of His ways of providing comfort and healing.

We do pray to God when we are sick. We pray for healing, yes. However, we don’t view being sick, or suffering, or even death as the worst thing that can happen to a Christian. For us, suffering actually has meaning as we see the effects of sin and death in the world and it causes us to cling to Christ as our hope, that he will fulfill his promise to forgive our sins and to redeem the world from the power of sin, death, and the devil. The worst thing that can happen to a Christian is to die apart from Christ. For us, healing takes a back seat to praying that we should not fall into despair and lose our faith in times of trial.

Because we are not Christian Scientists ™, that’s why.

Jesus certainly could feed the Multitudes (and there were two different Multitudes, by the way). But when Jesus went to the house of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, He ate what Martha cooked.

Is it not “an evil and adulterous generation” that wants to see a show, rather than show the math? When God sends you two boats and a helicopter, it’s a little tetchy to complain that He didn’t perform a parade of sparkly miracles.
