…was asking me about The Bible so I just let the Holy Spirit take over the conversation …felt His presence and just allowed Him to work through me to explain how it was put together, and written under the influence of Holy Spirit, the proof of this etc., and a little bit about how a lot of Catholic doctrine isn’t from God/unBiblical in praying to Mary or saints, bc this was a stumbling block for my mom when I left the Catholic Church…I explained how the rule of Constantine resulted in pagan traditions and holidays mingling with that of the early Christian church, and that while many Catholics are true believers, saved and Jesus following, this was the reason as I was seeking God’s Word and The Truth, not the opinions of men. I prayed afterwards that she would receive the Truth and understand and be drawn to it herself…
This girl is always asking me and my daughter to attend her Bible studies.

I am assuming that you are not comfortable enough with apologetics to feel you can hold your own in an anti-catholic bible study setting. I wouldn’t either. 😃

I would suggest that you agree to study the bible with her…but not at “her” bible studies class. Tell her that for the time being you would feel much more comfortable if you and she studied the bible one-on-one.
That way you and she can focus on one topic at a time without either of you feeling overwhelmed by others chiming in.

If she is agreeable to this you can then move forward - - not in the “shotgun” approach demonstrated in the quoted part of your OP - - but rather by taking each point in turn and discussing them and looking at various aspects of them.

Peace
James

I agree with saying politely - no thank you to the group bible study but possibly a one-on-one study. However, my suggestion would be to allow her to pick a particular subject ahead of time, then you two could do your own studying before coming together. Know what the Church really teaches on that subject using the CCC and the Bible (Catholic) and any other resources needed.

Shameless plug here for Fathers Know Best (Jimmy Akin) and Does the Bible Really Say That?.. (Patrick Madrid). I’m very comfortable navigating Scripture, but only just becoming accustomed to having to use it to defend Catholic teaching, as opposed to mere Christianity. These books were easy to use and most helpful.

Thanks. I have politely told her no, but I do like the idea of a one-on-one study. I was trying to find ways to refute the notion that Catholic Church was started by Constantine. There was actually a lengthy thread about this in the Apologetics forum.

Say no thank you and invite her to a Catholic Bible Study at a local Parish

You might consider sharing the following with her.

We believe that there is:
Only One true God:
Mark 12:29 “And Jesus answered him: The first commandment of all is, Hear, O Israel: the Lord thy God is one God”.

One set of Faith beliefs:
Acts Of Apostles 5:29 “But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men”

Eph. 4: 4-7 " One body and one Spirit; as you are called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all. But to every one of us is given grace, according to the measure of the giving of Christ".

One Church
Mt. 16: 17-19 “And Jesus answering, said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock [YOU-PETER]I will build my church, [SINGULAR] and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee [ALONE!] the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heave”

Mt.28: 16-20 “And the eleven disciples [APOSTLES] went into Galilee, unto the mountain where Jesus had appointed them… [And Jesus coming, **spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. [Going therefore, **teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world”

.John.10: 16 “And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd”

Historically and biblically the RCC dates back directly to the Apostles and Christ Himself founding OUR Church. How Old is your church and who founded it?

God Bless you,
Patrick
