I recently started a prayer thread for a new job. I just lost the job that I had and was told that it was temporary but could become permanent. How do I stop feeling anger and hurt over losing my job when I really liked what I was doing and the people that I was working with (it was JC Penney’s) I really liked how they treated their employees the store was started by John Cash Penney his philosophy was "treat others how you want to be treated " which is still carried out by the company to this day I really liked this and I was raised by this philosophy as well. How do I stop angry and hurt about losing a job that I was actually liked and enjoyed?

Just know it’s all part of God’s plan. He wants the best for us, and He probably has something better in store for you!

I think it’s okay to feel bad over losing a job you liked. I know I would. But while feeling bad, praise God–see the Psalms for help–and work on your resume. Best of luck to you.

I know you are disappointed, but department stores employ many people each year for the Christmas season. If you really like working there, go in person and see if they are hiring from time to time. You might get lucky when there is an opening.

I think that realizing no job is permanent and that you will probably have many jobs in your lifetime may help get over your feelings of loss. So get out there and look for something new.

Yes, it’s true…many stores, especially the bigger department stores, take on many temporary employees in the holiday season. Read the want ads, and try and keep in touch. Let them know you enjoyed working there, and you may be interested in a full-time job in the future.

As I understand it from your prior post you were hired as seasonal help and may or may not have been kept on after the holidays.

The best course of action is to let the store manager know you would like to work there on an ongoing basis and to please call you back if an opening becomes available in the store.

Meanwhile apply at other retailers if you need to work, and gain additional experience until you are called back. Turnover is high in these types of stores, so you should be able to get on if you remain patient and courteous.

They were up front with you that the job was temporary. Honestly, the company you speak about is struggling financially, I would have not expected them to hire right now.

You accept that this job taught you something about retail, you take that experience and apply for other jobs.
