Hi all,
A little back story… Cradle Catholic, away for many years. I reverted about 6 years ago. I have 3 kids, all Catholic. I add this b/c I am married to a non-Catholic, basically agnostic, albeit, incredible husband. My question is… I have been waning on my faith lately. I don’t know why. My daily prayer life is suffering latley as well as my example to my kids (14, 10 and 9, for the record). Net, Net I want to follow God’s will but constantly fail to do so. How do I take his gentle yoke and submit my life. The Bible says seek and you will find. My heart is seeking??.. Thanks for any info.

Welcome to CAF. http://bestsmileys.com/waving/5.gif

This may be a beautiful opportunity, given by God.
In this sense. If one’s prayer life is suffering,
this may signal being in a kind of ‘groove’ -
like vinyl records sometimes did, in playing them.
Round and around, in the same groove.

God may be calling you to refresh your prayer life,
so that you may become closer to Him.
This is one of the reasons that the Divine Office of
the Church contains enough variation - while some
parts remain the same. The variable and the constant.

As C.S. Lewis noted [or it may have been Chesterton]
God provides variety, and the recurrent - to soothe the
heart of human beings. Four seasons, dusk and dawn,
a variety of readings and emphasis, in the liturgical year.
Lilies at Easter, pointsettia at Christmas.
Red, green and white, for His birth, purple for His Passion.
Each liturgical season different, yet ever the same.

I simply wished to note that this may well be a very positive place to be.
Keeping some of the elements of prayer life, while adding others.
I am hoping that other posters will have suggestions that
may assist, in this regard.

I have noted, over many years, that when I pray to Him,
He will answer - sometimes through little things.
Not even thinking about what I have prayed about,
the ‘answer’ may come as I am putting on a load of laundry,
or walking across a shopping mall parking lot.🙂

Life changes, as it goes forward. God knows this.
He is ever at the ready to enlighten our mind and heart,
when it comes to prayer.

You are in my own poor prayers.

Hi “melly” 👋 My advice is Eucharistic Adoration. Put yourself in the Presence of Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament (at least, once a week… outside of Sunday Mass)… and see what happens. He is there… for you (and all of us). May God bless you and your family. And welcome to CAF.

Thank you for your replies. Please keep me in your prayers

Will certainly keep you in my prayers. But please, even if you can’t pray for long periods, at least try to thank and praise God for a few minutes every day. Maybe start off the day asking for help for yourself, your family, whatever. Pretty soon, it will get easier and more natural. God bless (welcome to the Forums)…
