Hi all,
I live in Melbourne, Australia, and tomorrow we have our State Election.
I have become more aware of how I should vote through reading the “CA How to Vote Guide”.
I delved into both political parties’ policies, and found the Labor party are going to try and decriminalise abortion if they are re-elected.
They have a note to this policy however, stating that it will go before Parliament as a “conscious vote”.
I have not been able to find out the Liberal party’s policy on this issue. But I have never liked Liberal, due to their other policies. Our Prime Minister is Liberal for those of you who don’t know much about the Australian political system.
I have an issue with the Greens so I don’t to vote for them.
I truly do like the Labor party’s policies and what Steve Bracks has done for my State so far.
However I don’t wish to vote for someone who may be the cause of abortion being legal here, even though it is unlikely due to the way laws are made here, with other members able to block bills etc.
What should I do? Take the chance Parliament will knock back the decriminalisation legislation when it is introduced if Labor win? Or take the chance that Liberal don’t have the same agenda?
