To go off of a parallel thread regarding the Catholic canon, I decided to start a new thread finding information about how the JWs determine what books go in the Bible.

Obviously the books didnt fall from Heaven, nor is there any place in Scripture that lists the books, nor is there a place where the canon is said to be closed after the Apostles died.

Given this, how do the JWs know what books belong in the Bible??

Hi

I gather from personal discussion with the JW that they follow the Protestant line in this connection.

It is an interesting subject.

Thanks

They very well might, I hope a JW chimes in and gives us some more details.

The canon of Scripture and the JWs have always sent up a red flag for me.

I can understand most Protestant traditions who use their canon - they broke away from the Church and then heavily used the Catholic canon to form their own. The best way I can articulate this is that they “reformed” the Catholic canon. JWs call the Catholic Church and other non-JWs “the Whore of Babylon”.

The hypocrisy of the JWs (and some others) is that they say that the early Church went into apostacy rather early and they are the “restored Church”. This apostacy has never been proven, btw. So now they use a canon which was derived from “the Whore of Babylon”. One JW told me the Church councils simply “got this one right”. Sounds extremely fishy to me.

the jw interpreted the bible to suit their own way , of the 4 men who did this 3 had no knowledge of greek language , the 4th. had approx . 2 yrs. training, look how they butchered the gospel of john.
