I work with this protestant(Baptist) one who calls himself a born again christian and he posed me the following question which I could not answer him.
St. Anne is Mary’s mother, which makes her Jesus’ grandmother. Where was this information taken from? Because apparently her name does not come up in the bible.

Although not mentioned in the Bible we know of Mary’s mother’s name from other sources. The earliest known record is found in the apocryphal writing The Protoevangelium of James which dates back to the second century.

For more information see St. Anne.
