How do you find a spiritual director? (especially in light of COVID)

I just returned to the Church a few weeks ago and it’s not going very well. I have a lot of issues with scrupulosity and anxiety that I have never been able to manage on my own, and I’m haing no more success than usual.

I don’t think that I can navigate the Church on my own. My instincts are all wrong, completely distorted by anxiety, and I feel like they just keep getting worse over time. But I don’t even know how to begin looking for help/guidance. I haven’t been to church in 4 years, and even when I did go to mass regularly, I went to a different parish basically every week (I don’t know why, that was just my habit). I don’t know any priests or people in the Catholic community. Since there’s no in-person masses or events, my option right now is kinda just to e-mail parishes in my area and hope someone responds.

I’m not sure exactly who to e-mail (the priest? the parish office? someone in administration?) or what to say. I’m not sure what exactly to ask for or how to explain my situation. I’ve never reached out to anyone about something like this, I’ve never even talked about it before at all, and I’m extremely nervous about doing it now.

For those of you who have worked with a spiritual director, do you have any advice on how to go about it?
