Here is a link to the USCCB review for the movie: Doctor Strange - Catholic News Service

The site rates that movie as acceptable for adults. It does have some occult. Here is a snippet from the review:

Yet, in order to enjoy these assets, viewers of faith will have to overlook all the mumbo-jumbo interwoven into the script, which Derrickson penned along with Jon Spaihts and C. Robert Cargill. Thus, only those mature teens able to treat such elements as on a par with the Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkeys – a task not made easier by the fact that the hooey on offer here comes decked out in the trappings of Buddhism – should be given the green light.

I would suggest that you read the full review of the movie. Also, if you have other questions about movies, the USCCB website has a ton of movie reviews. They go back decades.

I don’t watch them anymore - I found this one boring and never finished watching it . Although lately they have been changing to the dark side of superhero movies with characters that aren’t exactly role models.

I fell asleep halfway through it.

The special effects were cool.

Golly, everyone, when I saw this question, I thought you were talking about the Marvel comic books. I didn’t even think of the movie (with the great Benedict Cumberbatch!).

Sigh. I’m such a fossil.

My husband has loved the Doctor Strange comic books since he was a child, and he has a large collection of them kept sealed in proper bags. He loved the movie, but it’s the comic book Dr. Strange character that he loves. He has a decently large collection of several Marvel characters (including X Men from way back), but if he had just one title he could buy, it would be Dr. Strange…

And he has never dabbled in the occult. He won’t even watch those fun ghost shows that I watch when I am sick at home. And he’s not interested in touring haunted places or staying in haunted hotels and boarding houses like I am. (Thankfully my younger daughter loves all this stuff with me!)

So I don’t think it’s a given that an interest in Dr. Strange or other fictional characters who utilize the occult will cause a person to fall into sin.

Even if it does, who cares? It’s just a movie. As long as you aren’t taking it too seriously, what’s the issue?

There were some occult symbols in the movie. But, I didn’t pay much attention to that. I was particularly interested in the teleportation and manifestation of worm holes. This was a very interesting idea portrayed in the series Farscape. The main character was able to travel across the stars with the use of body and mind.

It’s actually one of my favorite Marvel movies. I really like Cumberbatch, the visuals were impressive, and I love Mads Mickelson (the best Hannibal Lector, imo). As long as you recognize that it’s just a silly movie, and you’re secure enough in your faith for it not to make you question things, then I’d say go for it.

At the same time, if you have any concerns that watching it might cause you spiritual difficulties, or if you personally think that it is imprudent to watch it, then don’t. You’re not missing out on anything of substance, just some cool visuals and good acting.
