Greetings Pieman333272,

Actually we can know for sure per se that Jesus Christ did die on the Cross.

From Dei Verbum Paragraph 19

I am surprised to see you as a Catholic writing your response. I do hope that your response is a joke or something of that sort and that you do not believe as you have written.

God Bless.

You are correct, from a theological perspective, we can be certain, but I was referring from a historical perspective, where we cannot presuppose the truth of doctrines by the Holy Church. I, personally, am certain, but if I only analyzed it based on historical criteria, I would have to admit you cannot know beyond a possible doubt.

Greetings Pieman333272,

I see. But has not the histrocity of Jesus already been proven? I believe it has, but am not sure where to go digging for the documents. Have you ever read the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel - I know he is not a Catholic author, but he did go about saying why the proofs for Christ exist, and I think he began from a perspective that was not “theological”.

I am very thankful that you are certain. 😃 I got a little worried there.

God Bless.
