How do you Pray?

My petitionary prayers are whispered. My contemplative prayer is silent.

Pax Christi!

I whisper a lot but not always. It helps me concentrate.

God bless.

It would be different answers for me.

I pray sometimes at normal voice or in a whisper. But I always end up praying silently because my voice always goes out on me before I’m through.

I like to sit silently in the Presence of God.

While this is perhaps best done where the Eucharist is present, it can be done anywhere and anytime.

I am a very quiet person, and apply my character to my prayer. Agere sequitur esse. Pretty much all my prayer is silent, and interior. When I am anxious, tired, or very convicted, however, I break out into a whisper or loud whisper toward God. I’ve given up chanting my Office or speaking it loudly. Those things just make me feel as if I’m trying to yell across a canyon. God is not ā€œaboveā€, really; He is primarily within us, as Baptism has allowed us to know and to experience!

i pray silently in the morning, then a mix of reading the magnificat, some silent, some out loud. bed time prayers with my wife, out loud.

Liturgy of the Hours I pray in a low voice, most other prayer is silent or whispering for me.

Silently, most of the time, but sometimes aloud. And usually in the manner I speak in.

Mostly silent prayers comprising of endless petitions & then contemplation. Contemplation listening to music or watching the sunset, or anytime really. Petitions when everything is too much.

I pray according to Matthew Chapter 6 as follows:

Verse 5 'And when you pray, do not imitate the hypocrites: they love to say their prayers standing up in the synagogues and at the street corners for people to see them. In truth I tell you, they have had their reward.
Verse 6 But when you pray, go to your private room, shut yourself in, and so pray to your Father who is in that secret place, and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.

What better advice than from St. Matthew!

God Bless and Peace to all.

I usually whisper, if I were to use my normal voice in the evening it might wake someone up. It also feels nicer for me.

It depends on where I am,and the purpose of the prayer. Usually in my normal conversational voice (I often feel like God and I are talking/communicating with each other). Sometimes, late at night, I whisper. Most always, it’s some version of ā€œout loud.ā€ My mind wanders and is unfocused when I try silent (ā€œmentalā€) prayer.
