How do you return Thanksgiving to God?

How are we supposed to return thanks to God for a prayer intention answered?
 
Psalm 116: 12-13. Take up the cup of salvation. Offer a Mass of Thanksgiving.
 
Mass of Thanksgiving is a very good answer and it makes perfect sense.
