One thing from a slightly different slant, is it’s not so much that when people give your daughter gifts, that would cause her to become spoiled. It’s in how you teach her to react to the gift giving. Gift giving is an act of kindness. Granted, if complete strangers are always giving her something, it could become excessive, and you don’t want your daughter to grow expectant of these gifts. So, therein lies the rub, perhaps. Teaching her how to accept a gift with humility, and not with an expectant attitiude…and teaching her how to respectfully turn down gifts, if it seems like it’s becoming excessive.
And kids learn best from our examples of humility. If you conduct yourself in a humble way, your daughter will follow suit. *
