Does the Catholic Church teach that the snake also had free will or that it was doing what it was put in the Garden to do?
The “snake” or better translated, “dragon”, is a representation of Satan. And he, of course, did have free will but chose to go against God long before the creation of mankind.

How Does Free Will Exist if God is Omniscient? Since he knows all, he would have to have known and created the actions and beliefs that everyone has, right?
How’s that mean that you don’t have the ability to choose?

There’s a famous quote:

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” (Epicurus)

That says everything I need to say.
If God has the power to stop evil and doesn’t that’s because he accepts your choice.

It wouldn’t be free will if no matter what you choose it resulted in the same thing.

In the former East Germany they called themselves the “Democratic Republic of Germany”. They called themselves ‘democratic’ because they held elections. Everyone on the ticket had to be a member of the Communist Party, so no matter who you voted for, you still got a communist.

That’s not democracy because there’s no real choice.

God so loves us that he will never renege on the gift he gave us; free will; or else it wouldn’t be a real gift.

Evil comes from man’s desire not to choose God.
