I’m not asking for any private revelations here, so please don’t post any as it is against CAF rules.

What I’m asking is how does God communicate with you? Does he give you a thought? A feeling? Does he give you a sign?

How do you know when God is answering your prayer or helping you with a situation?

What examples do you have in your life where God has given you an answer?
No private revelations please :tiphat: >>

Mostly through that “still small voice”

God also loves “teaching moments” When I am disciplining my children for doing something wrong, in the midst of the lecture I get the distinct impression of a voice whispering that I should listen to my own words.

Often my children ask me questions that lead me to know that the simple answer is usually the right one.

Sorry, no ever-burning vegetation or 900 foot representations of Roy Rogers horse “trigger” for me.

…i have long felt that his communication has been through nature and family… each sunset i see gives me hope for this world, and with the birth of every child and grandchild it was clear to me that God is indeed there… 👍

Often it’s a thought or “I should do such-and-such” that I know didn’t originate with me and that I just can’t get out of my head, no matter how I try to ignore it. Like the impulse that drove me into RCIA (six years as of this Easter!). 😃

Or when everything I come across seems to be hammering at the same theme - the Scripture readings at Mass AND my own private reading AND something someone says to me in passing…

One of the best, and clearest, is when a memorized Scripture passage will suddenly surface in my mind and apply perfectly to what’s going on with me. I don’t know how my parents managed it, but I’m really grateful to have so much of the Bible in my head, because it’s probably the clearest way God speaks to me - I’d love to know how to replicate that with our still-hypothetical future children!

I think God communicates in many ways. Sometimes He communicates by not answering.
Sometimes, I’ll be praying about something and a fully realized idea will suddenly pop into my head. Occasionally, He has shouted at me in my thoughts. Other times, I feel like I am cradled in the palms of His hand.:o

👍 Serap, this was a great idea for a thread! The answers so far have been quite instructive!

God and the Blessed Virgin Mary have taken care of me. They, or the Angels and Saints never appeared to me or spoken to me directly, in fact I think I would be scared to death if they did

But difficult situations have been resolved and I can see God’s divine providence working in my life, as I look back. I did experience his promise “Cry out for me in your dire need, I will set you free from your enemies, and you will glorify My Name!”

I was also allowed to find answers to my questions, in a way that powerfully resonates with God’s promise that “You will find me when you will be searching for me with your whole heart”.

Some of the coincidences in my life bordered on the miraculous, considering the mathematical probabilities of them happening.

In a large part, I found God through learning about the Blessed Mother. Then, when I tried to do something to specifically honor Her, I received a flood of graces that I haven’t even asked for but it was precisely what I needed greatly. She anticipated my needs, my problems, and led me to the answers even before I could ask the questions! And the way this started out, I wanted to do something for Her, I wanted to give something to Her, but she ended up doing about a thousand-fold more for me, and giving about a thousand-fold more to me. You just can’t overdo our Blessed Mother in generosity 😃 you can try but you won’t be able to 🤷 That’s Our Blessed Mother 🙂
