Hello, I was wondering instantly after confession I feel like I’m not in a state of grace, although I went, confessed my sins and did that I wanted to know how can we stay in a state of grace or some tips on how to after a long time and after confession so you can stay in a state of grace for a long time…

Be careful of scrupulousity. If you made a good confession, you will be in a state of grace, and you cannot “accidentally” fall out of it. Be careful of mortal sins. Perform a nightly examen. Pray, and make regular confessions.

Peace

But what I’m wondering is how do you KNOW that your still in a state of grace?!

My friend,

This comes down to faith in the sacraments, and faith in yourself, that you be true to yourself and do what you know to be right. But do not forget, that unless it is the will of God that you never screw up (a rare gift from God in my experience haha), you will most likely screw up again. What matters is that you try to not sin…but you and I are fallen human beings and it is impossible without the grace of God. Just tell yourself that no matter what, whenever you sin, you will always CHOOSE to come back to the Lord and seek confession when necessary.

Personally, I view confession somewhat like taking a shower. If I was in a desert, and every week the Lord came to visit me (the Mass and the Eucharist) then surely I would want to clean myself up. This is why I recommend going to confession every 1-2 weeks. I do it because I want to be ready for the Lord at the Mass. If I mortally sinned, so be it, but even if I did not MORTALLY sin, then I still feel I should clean myself up. I think doing this, and meditating on why we go to confession, i.e. to be ready to receive Jesus in the Eucharist is good practice for staying in a state of grace.

You stay in a state of grace after confession by not committing any mortal sin.

What you “feel like” has nothing to do with it.

If this is confusing to you, please discuss with your priest.

The only time you’re not in a state of grace is if you commit mortal sin. It doesn’t have anything to do with feelings.

I’ve noticed your posts in the last couple of days seem to have a tone of anxiety and guilt. Be at peace. Think of the person you love most in the world. God loves you immeasurably more than that. He is not sitting on His Throne with his arms crossed, waiting for you to make a wrong move. He is cheering you on. All the saints are cheering you on.

Oh no, they aren’t about anxiety, these are just questions I’ve had longing for them to be answered :))

So basically whether I feel it or not, even if I commit venial sins ( or not ) I’m in a state of grace?!

That is correct. And also, you cannot accidentally commit mortal sin. You probably already know that, but I thought I’d mention it, just in case.
