How does the Mass not re-create Jesus?

Hello,

A friend of mine, a Protestant minister in Scotland (Church of Scotland), said that to Protestant eyes, the Mass recreates Jesus and is thus blasphemous.

I’m not sure how to respond. Can you help?
 
Hi,

That’s because they don’t realize that the Lord’s passion transcends time. Certainly, they would agree that His passion benefited not only those who were living at the time, but also those who had lived before and those who would come later. In the Eucharist His blood is separate from His body, underscoring that fact that He died. In signifying His passion and death, the Eucharist, therefore, transcends time as well.

When we see His body and blood on the altar under the appearance of bread and wine, we are celebrating the SAME passion and death that occurred on Calvary. We are recreating nothing.
