A while ago my employer gave us training about safe driving, particularly distracted driving. Part of the presentation involved a list objects and colors (2 lists) being dictated to us followed by us writing it down a few seconds later. I wrote it down and managed to recall every object and color, but got it wrong because the order was completely different than that presented.

This reminds me of my struggle to remember my wife’s cell. I always get the right digits but often transpose a few of them.

Does anyone else here have an odd memory quirk they strive against?

I have good long-term memory, but I think I have subconscious selective memory with short-term.

Did they warn you in advance that it had to be in the same order? If you remembered all the items, I’d say you scored 100 percent, even though you listed them in a different order.

The first year, no. But this year yes. I struggle with the order of things, but have learned that it only matters in a few instances.

Yeah. They say memory is the second thing to go. I forget what the first is.
