How I love being Catholic

Funny, it took me into my mid-50’s before I fully appreciated the gift of the Church Jesus gave us. Like many, I was raised Catholic, wandered away early in adult life, returned a few times, and wavered before coming to love and embrace my Catholic faith.

The rosary is a daily part of my life, as are Novenas and prayers for intercessions from the Saints. Particularly asking their intercession in the sad state of the world today.

What a wonderful gift our Church is to us from our savior, Jesus Christ.
 
I totally agree with"How I love being Catholic" – I don’t know if I could get along without the Church – when I had a car I went to Mass every day – now I have to walk so only go a couple of times a week (of course, on Sundays and Holy Days) – my Rosary was sent to me from Paris by my granddaughter and I love it – it goes everywhere with me and I say a decade when I’m walking to public transportation – to church – when I drink my first cup of coffee, etc.,etc.

CONGRATULATIONS! Praised be God now and for ever. I presume you are Roman Catholic Faithful.
 
I’ve recently really come to love the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I probably sound like a huge geek, but I really love how reasonable and concise it is. Though Catholicism is often misconceived as a sort of fundamentalist, arbitrary religion, the Catechism is so well thought-out. I love the fact that the Church, looking at what it actually teaches, cannot necessarily be pinned down to one side of a political binary and really looks, in light of Revelation, at the details of a situation.

Also, I’m happy to see that you’ve come to love the Church, though not as happy as our Lord and our Lady are.
 
I actually had that same thought yesterday! The Catholic faith has enriched my life so much! I really thank God for leading me to his true church!

Agreed.👍 I have read portions of the Catechism and I was nicely surprised as to how simple and basic it really is…🙂 I had always expected it to be more complex and harder to read. :blush:There are, of course, a few things that are a little more complex than others, but other than that, I have found it to be quite concise and down to the point. 🙂 One paragraph, for instance, can sometimes answer a few questions at the same time. 👍

I love the fullness and truth of our Catholic faith. 😃

I am a life-long Catholic and over 40 years ago a friend asked me if I wanted to go to daily Mass with her for Lent. I agreed and thought that was a great idea. I had 7 children so I thought it was a bit of a struggle and could hardly wait for Lent to end. Shortly after Easter I found my day was sooo empty without Mass so I started going every day. And have ever since. I have had a holy hour for nearly as long. My life like most, has had its rough times. I lost 2 husbands, 2 babies, both parents, 2 siblings and many friends. Honestly I don’t know how one ever gets through these things without Our Lord. My Mom taught us to love Our Lady and she, along with Her Rosary, has been my companion all along. I am so thankful I was born into the Catholic Faith. I agree, I love being Catholic. God Bless, Memaw

That’s awesome. I went to my first daily Mass today and loved it. I am going to go again tomorrow.
 
This thread feels important to me.

There is a joy, a strange, great joy to being Catholic.

And I cannot imagine other confessions feeling it … like it’s so wonderful to be methodist or presbyterian.

And people who are not Catholic have no idea about this joy …

We need to speak about it more.
 
Thanks for the replies, everyone. It’s wonderful to hear so many others share the same sentiment about the one holy Church.
