No kids for us yet, but I start teaching (college) Aug. 31. Still way too much prep to get done before then.

And my wife starts a new fellowship so she will start teaching (high school) Sept. 8!

Our only child left at home starts back to the community college on the 24th. She spent her senior year of high school there and is looking forward to going back.

I’m entering my 2nd full year of teaching after homeschooling for many years. I start back to school meetings on the 24th.

I plan to spend next week, my last full week of summer break, by the pool. 👍

DS1 will be beginning his Senior year. He has an application in at the Naval Academy and is also applying for a NROTC scholarship. Our summer has been all about the Navy! So, this year is rather bittersweet. He has worked very hard to get to this point and it seems like everything we are doing is for next year already. I’m sure it will race by!
My cousin’s daughter got a full NROTC scholarship to CU-Boulder (:yup: navy scholarship in Colorado!) and she loved it. She’s now a flyer on an aircraft carrier, in her third deployment in two years, and making plans for life after the navy. Her emails – “The Deployment Chronicles” – are simply amazing.

God bless all of you in this new school year.
:eek:I will be starting my first year of nursing school in 2 weeks. I am pretty excited, but also really nervous. I’m wondering how I am supposed to juggle four children, school and housework… 🤷
 How do you juggle four children?! You must have really strong arms! :rotfl:

Seriously, get everyone involved in the degree and the housework and you’ll make it. Your children will benefit from seeing you do your homework (while they do theirs maybe), and from taking on household chores according to their ability. My committee chair told me that she got homework done in the car as her husband drove them to the kids’ school and sport functions.

Also, make a schedule and stick to it. I found I could go to sleep at the same time as my son and get up hours before him (he’s only five now) and get some studying done. I save the housework for when he’s awake and home (that is, not at his dad’s house).

God bless you with your studies!

My baby (my one and only) starts kindergarten on the 24th.

He is SO EXCITED!!! At the new family orientation, the kids got to spend time with the Boy Scouts doing some activities, and now he can hardly wait to be a Boy Scout 😃

We got all his school supplies yesterday, and we’re looking forward to meeting his teacher and seeing his classroom at the Open House this week.

Meanwhile, my own students returned on August 3 () and I am still trying to get settled into a system that works for teaching over 600 students (200+ a day), sometimes with more than 30 students in a class. It’s exhausting – but it’s a happy exhausting 😛

Do we have to talk about it? 😦 Can you tell I’m a teacher who is not ready for summer to end?

Teacher’s meetings (the worst part of teaching!) tomorrow and Tuesday. Frosh get Weds. to themselves and on Thursday I have to be nice to students. I teach Junior and Senior Chemistry at a Catholic HS.

My oldest, a DD, goes back to her Junior year of college next Sunday. She’s in a house this year so that’s a big change for her and us. She’s excited about that.

Our youngest, a DS, is a high school senior. Silly boy actually signed up for another year of Chem so he has his mom as a teacher again this year.

We’ve done no back to school shopping. I guess I keep pretending it’s not actually going to happen but college / high school is so easy - mostly notebooks and some pens. I was so excited to get rid of the grade school supply lists: a box of 24 crayons (not 12 or 48!), bandaids, paper towels, etc.

Have great school years everyone!

our oldest DD begins 3rd grade Tuesday. Very exciting! 😃

And our next DD begins Kindergarten on Tuesday. She is bouncing off the walls, she is so excited! 😃

Happy New School Year for all!!
Well, day #1 was a success!

Here are some photos…the first two are of DD#1 and DD#2, then the third one is of my dd#3, who doesn’t go to school yet, but was excited to come along for the ride…and the donut at boo-hoo/yahoo breakfast, lol 👍

Sincerely,
Gratefuldad(aka - 4GirlsRUs)
LOL…thanks! We were completely prepared to be 4GirlsRUs…but our little boy is going to be so spoiled with all his little mothers around. 🙂

What cuties!!! I miss those first day of school pictures 😦

Things are going great! We started our first year of homeschooling on Monday!!
DD1 is in 4th grade, DD2 is in 2nd and our little guy is 3 but wanted to start school too, so I got some pre-school books to work with him. They are all very excited and so far this week has been good!!
We started early so I can take some extra time off in December for baby #4!!

Just moved DD (my “baby”) to her college dorm on Monday. She’s beginning her second year…too hard for me to believe! It’s only been 2 days and I miss her terribly, but this is MY problem not hers! I’ve prayed for her protection and asked our Heavenly Mother to be her mother in my absence. My DD has asked me to bring her a few things she forgot. Luckily she’s not too far from where I work. So, as I gathered those items last night, I noticed that her lanyard had a few items hanging from it. On it was a Miraculous Medal key chain fob. I’ve never noticed it before when she used it. I’m taking this as a sign from my Heavenly Mother that she will be with my DD.👍

Same here too. We are still going to the pool and reading novels all day! 😃
rub it in, mrs sally. 😛 My kids are in less denial now…as the DAY approaches…

I told them to THINK POSITIVE, SCHOOL’S FUN, LEARNING’S GREAT…lol :rotfl: My kids are like…“mommmm, please! enough!”*

Ha! I’m sure I’ll get that too right before school starts also. It would be better for ds if there was a fall play in middle school–then he’d jump right in! Waiting until the spring to be the star of the school is just too long! 😃
