How is Saturday Mass good enough?

You got it! The Church, in her wisdom, realized that different individuals need different options!. I like the sleeping in and relaxing on Sunday aspect of it too! Really fulfills the rest requirement mandate!

This isn’t true. Saturday vigil Mass fulfills the Sunday obligation and you don’t need good or grave reason to attend it. One is free to attend vigil Masses any time and for any reason.

The reason was stated above: celebrations of Sundays and Solemnities begin with Evening Prayer I on the previous day. That’s why Church liturgical norms consider all obligations fulfilled when Mass is attended on the evening prior.

Why is this? It’s because vigils are a way of extending the solemnity: by celebrating a vigil, we are observing the “night watch” so to speak, waiting for the dawn. Vigils in the Church are attached to Solemnities and Sundays as a form of anticipation, and bringing forth the solemn nature of the celebration. So it’s not a matter of convenience; essentially the Church is telling us that this is an important day, deserving of the dignity of anticipated celebrations. That’s why there is no Saturday Evening Prayer. It’s always Evening Prayer I for Sunday.

So no, we need no good excuse or grave reason to attend Saturday Evening Mass. We are free to do so for any reason, even just plain preference.

I keep the Sabbath holy, yet attend Mass on Saturday evenings due to health reasons. The Sabbath begins at sundown the Saturday before from what I have learned. And given that, if Saturday evenings aren’t considered Sunday Mass, then why are Sunday readings done during them? Refer to Vatican II and your Priest rather than this forum. Just my advice.
