This post does not start out immediately as a question about immigration. It is more of a post about whether it is just for a government to enforce laws that have not been enforced properly for 20 years.

Q: How just would it be for a credit card company to start charging late fees and interest after 20 years of knowingly being negligent in keeping an accurate count of the money you owe them?

Q: How just would it be for the Government to tax it’s people more in order to make up for an accounting error for which they have known about for 20 years?

Q: How just would it be for the Government to enforce immigration laws to make up for a lack of enforcement which they have known about for 20 years?

Q: Why is blanket enforcement acceptable and selective amnesty unacceptable?

Because 25 years ago enforcement was touted as part of the amnesty. The amnesty was provided, but not the enforcement.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

I think there should also be a clarification to the illegal immigration question- who is the immigrant we are talking about? Are all illegal immigrants equal?
