How large is the Marian consecration movement?

I know many people have consecrated themselves to Jesus through Mary using the 33 Days to Morning Glory book and/or True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis Marie De Montfort.

An older, smart Catholic woman I know referred to Marian consecration as a “movement” in the Church right now. I don’t know how large it is. But I want it to get much bigger.

St. Maximilian Kolbe says that we must daily draw tighter and tighter this spiritual bond with our Mary. Because of Mary’s union with Jesus, he said there is no greater perfection than union with her who is perfectly one with the Holy Spirit

I also hope devotion to the Rosary is making a comeback, since all problems can be solved through the Rosary, as Sister Lucia said.
 
Maybe because of the recent 100th Anniversary of the Fatima apparitions,Consecration to Jesus through Mary’s Immaculate Heart is a prominent focus for the faithful.I and my faith group did the Marian Consecration last May on the feast of Mary’s first Fatima Apparition.I say the daily consecration prayer to Mary as well.🙏
 
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide Marian Devotion. There motto is “Jesus trough Mary”.

Interestingly, I just started “True devotion to Mary.” Recently I’ve felt very drawn to Mary. Which means a lot, given I spent 27 years as a fundamental Protestant.

do not forget we can consecrate ourselves to Mary as Our Lady of the Rosary Requested at Fatima.

we can pray a consecration prayer once, or daily.

there are. a few ways to consecrate to Mary without doing the 30 or 33 day Consecration.

It is important to Our Lady that we do the first 5 Saturdays , as requested.
 
I thought it was a personal devotion. I’m happy to see people being devoted to Mary, but not really interested in being part of any “movements”. I’m thinking of doing the 33 day consecration next year.
 
I’m very glad to hear that, Jeanne. I’m guessing most people are using the 33 Days to Morning Glory book, which is what my parish priest has people use.
 
My wife and I are beginning g our 33 day preparation on November 9th. Consecration day will be the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, also my wife’s birthday.
 
Thanks, Tawny. Yes, I know a wonderful person from the Legion of Mary. Do you know how much they are growing? There is also the Association of Mary, which is the part of the Company of Mary (St. Louis De Monfort’s order of "Montfort Fathers and Missionaries) which anyone who has made the consecration using De Montfort’s process (True Devotion or Secret of Mary) can join.

I’m glad to hear that, Tis_Bearself. I think it’s both an individual and a communal devotion, because it unites us more deeply with our common Mother and Lord, and thus with each other. Pope Pius IX said “give me an army saying the Rosary and I will conquer the world”. Jesus said “wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in their midst”. The Church highly recommends both the Rosary and St. Louis De Montfort’s teachings and consecration. Also the Rosary Confraterntity, which Pope Leo XIII called the “army of prayer”, because they pray for each other.

Red Catholic prayer book i had. No one really asked me to do it, I think. I learned by first-hand experience how important this prayer is…

I think that is a great grace, Ordinary. I hate to think where I’d be if I’d never read True Devotion to Mary or The Glories of Mary…

I hope there are many others who are discovering how much they need Our Lady.

Here is a beautiful passage I read again from Pope Paul VI’s Encylical Mense Maio:

Since Mary is rightly to be regarded as the way by which we are led to Christ, the person who encounters Mary cannot help but encounter Christ likewise. For what other reason do we continually turn to Mary except to seek the Christ in her arms, to seek our Savior in her, through her, and with her? To Him men are to turn amid the anxieties and perils of this world, urged on by duty and driven by the compelling needs of their heart, to find a haven of salvation, a transcendent fountain of life.

It is my opinion based on experience that if one doesn’t pray the Rosary and honour thy mother, devotions to other saints go unanswered…

@Ordinary, I do too. There are simple prayers to pray. And The Rosary , and I also do First Saturdays. And first Fridays to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

We had a wonderful Marian Weekend for the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of the Rosary ar Fatima. The priest who ran it gave us a little prayer/hymn/ Mass book. We prayed a Consecration prayer daily. During our other activities.

This Priests special prayer, also my fav, is from Fatima and is the Angel prayer. This Priest travels the globe with one of the Pilgrim statues .
 
Yes, I agree that the Fourth Commandment applies especially to our devotion to Our Lady, our Mother, the Lady of the Rosary. When we honor her–especially through simply relating to her as children and through the Rosary–we empower her to work in our lives. When we give her everything, she also gives us everything (True Devotion to Mary, number 144).
