How many abortions are ACTUALLY procured as a reaction to rape or incest?

There’s nothing to gain using this kind of stat. You appear to be ignoring the suffering of thos women who did suffer from rape for the sake of your own side, and you admit that there is a possible justification. Instead focus on the rights of the unborn, the trauma and damage that abortion forces on the mother and the number of women coming forward stating that they were forced - often through violence - to abort their children.

Respectfully; for what its worth if your asking me, I don’t believe there’s any cause to remove focus from the rights of the unborn. I’m well aware as you say about ** the trauma and damage that abortion forces on the mother and the number of women coming forward stating that they were forced - often through violence - to abort their children.**

I’m not a woman, but as a man who was gang-raped and tortured at gunpoint in the past, I believe I’m amply qualified to understand a female rape or incest victims who is virtually stripped of all mental faculty to reason the decision of seeking an abortion after rape or incest. No! too wrongs never make a right. Even those with the most genuine heartfelt intention to save the unborn infant precious life within a rape or incest victims womb, not being victims themselves, (including concerned Catholic shrinks), are not fully capable of fathoming the ravished, shattered mind of the victim.

Is a female victim of rape or incest who seeks out abortion in desparation, no matter how morally rehensible the situation, is she always cupable? I don’t believe this is the case in numerous situations given her loss of reason. I think down the road in woman who do regrettable seek abortion invarible creates a indelible double stigma.
Are we to believe that raped or incested women who make such harsh choices understand this within themselves years later? I believe many of them do eventually realize it. I also understand the “soul” mission of Catholic sincere doctors, nurses, priest, and nuns doing their ulmost to convince a victimized woman to save the priceless soul and life within her.

In a most respectful way of conveying this I have often wondered if Catholic hospitals and those who work diligently in earnest to save the precious life of unborn infants within victimized mothers are just as diligent and introspective in giving spiritual mental help for the same victims and not just throwing them out amongst the secular world amongst secular shrinks. Threads like these can easily get emotionally charged as they are triggering especially for those whom have been victimized.

Had I been a female victim of rape impregnated I would had dearly hoped I had the proper resources and cognitive powers to seek help in my Faith in choosing to have kept the precious God given life of a child in my womb. In my small city of 120,000 there are no Catholic Hospitals. Nor is there an offical Rape Clinic for Women whom are most sadly victimized.

Despite the thankful healing God has helped me with in my lifetime its still triggering in painful memories which linger on as it is to read threads like these. My heart and fight for the unborn as a Catholic is as vibrant as it has been always. Being a Victim of Rape myself it takes a victim to truly understand another victim far more than anyone else.

Peace
Chris

In no respect am I citing this number as a rationalization, but maybe 2 years ago I saw a government statistic that said 1% - yes, one percent - of abortions were linked to rape or incest. I don’t have the citation however.
Yes, 1% is the figure I usually see, too, though I think I recall seeing a figure as high as 3% at one time. Either way, it’s a very small fraction of the total.

Which really demonstrates how much of a red herring it is in the abortion debate. If you’re talking to a pro-choice person who brings it up, tell them that, for the sake of argument, you concede that abortion is okay in thos circumstances. Will they then join with you to fight against all other abortion, 99% of which is done solely for convenience? If the answer is “No”, then why bring up the hard cases at all?

It’s an argument from emotion.

The Pro-Abortion crowd wanted Romney’s blood for saying that he was only in favor of abortion for reasons of rape and incest. So the answer to your question is no. The Pro-Abortion crowd won’t settle for anything less than zero restrictions on abortions. They even object to calling it a double murder when a pregnant women and her baby get murdered because they are afraid it might lead to people finding out that it’s a baby that’s getting murdered. The Pro-Abortion crowd only uses the red herring “rape and incest” argument when it’s convenient to use it.

A proper research approach is needed first to get at least an estimate from a qualified institution as to the number of rapes that result in pregnancy in the United States.

“According to a study cited by the Centers for Disease Control, “an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year,” in the United States, meaning that about 5 percent of women who are raped do become pregnant.”

afterabortion.org/2012/abortion-doesnt-help-rape-victims-say-women-whove-been-there/

And there’s this:

“Despite the belief that most women in such circumstances would want an abortion, a national study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology found that only half of those who became pregnant from rape had an abortion. Another survey of pregnant sexual assault victims found that only 30 percent had abortions.”

If my math is correct, even at 50%, that’s just over 16,050 who chose or were coerced into getting an abortion.

Hope this helps,
Ed

I’d like to add that by signing a piece of paper, I can have access to my medical records to include another doctor or even a friend. Here is what the state of Michigan includes in medical records.

Abortion being one item.

Planned Parenthood, it seems, wants to block access.

Peace,
Ed
