I am planning to join when I turn 18.
What are your experiences with them?

You sure? In Croatia there is a Templar branch and to enter you must be Catholic male

The Templars do not exist; they were suppressed completely (and I believe, unjustly) in 1312.

Maybe there are organizations, even approved ones that use Templar symbolism and terminology, but they are not the same group, and neither are they successors thereof. The official Knights Templar have never been restored.

Here’s the website for the restored Knights Templars:

They seem quite zealous for the Church, not the diabolical thing their predecessor had become.

Hope they entertain the possibility of a cloistered counterpart.

No, the original Templars were never diabolical. Those were calumnies spread mainly by Philip IV of France.

That is not to say they were perfect. It probably contributed to their undoing that they shifted from their orginal purpose of monastic knighthood to banking. But the allegations of heresy, sodomy, devil-worshipping, etc. were all falsehoods, and the Knights could have been reformed into something like what the Hospitallers are today.

But the allegations of heresy, sodomy, devil-worshipping,
And that’s exactly what they were, allegations, there was no evidence of it, and France is the only country where they were actually convicted of anything, but that was largely because the king of France needed a scapegoat because he was in heavy debt. Now, there were indeed other things that some of them did do, but the accusations of heresy and sodomy and whatnot, are just that, accusations.

FINALLY, the Templars of old are beginning to be historically portrayed properly!

A good factual book that displays them accurately is The Templars: Knights of Christ by one of the great medievalists of our time, Regine Pernoud.
