How many of you have read the Church Fathers?

I tried. I really did. But I found it dry to be honest. There is important stuff there I need to know.I know.
Polycarp’s faith was impressive to the end. I remember a little bit of Clement. Reading the Church Fathers is necessary to be Catholic, do you think? If you want to be an informed Catholic that is?
 
I have come to love the Church Fathers, but only if I approach it not as a cover-to-cover read, but thematically. Years ago, I quit using “canned” bible studies, written by modern apologetics and approach the scripture with referencing related scripture, writings of the Church Fathers, and Church Documents. In this context the Church Fathers have never disappointed me, nor have I found them dry.
 
I was lucky to domicile in an institution with the complete series of Ming.
I concentrated on the Ante Nicene Fathers, 1 hour a day for 4 years.
