Yes I fast and abstain. Thanks for letting folks know, good on you.

I never really understood Ember Days, so thank you for the links and the discussion. I ended up fasting, abstaining, praying the full LOTH (Short Benedictine), attending Mass and praying a rosary all for the victims of clerical abuse. It was well worth it. Thanks again!

Dear rosary_kat,

I am glad you have had a meaningful day. Fri and Sat are also Ember Days, if you are so inclined. Today at Mass, father described them as a “mini-Lent.”

Hi:wave:

Just a reminder, Fri and Sat are Ember days. Fri: Full fast and Full abstinence. Sat: Full fast, partial abstinence.

Traditionally they are offered for:

-The Poor Souls
-Priests
-A Bounteous Season
And some are now offering their fast in reparation for sexual abuse on the part of priests/religious and for healing of their victims.

Have a meaningful fast everyone!👍

As I know, Ember days are a part of real Catholic culture. It’s an important celebration, I would have been there. However i can’t predict How many people will observe Ember days. Let’s wait for the fact answer.
