How many times can I pray the Rosary a day? Is it for each prayer?

Hello All! I am new here, this being my first post. I hope I do this correctly. I don’t have a name for this, but I’ll describe it as follows: A rosary that runs 1 session/day/night long, attended by 9 men, which counts as a full novena. Here is what is going on. My mom’s cousin passed away last week and services were completed Friday. They started and finished their novena yesterday by invoking this 9 man rule or exception (?). I’ve learned not to dismiss anything as impossible, but can’t help but feel this is not valid. It seems made up to me. I’ve been to many novenas and this is the first I heard of this. Other family members have mentioned that they have heard of this. I am truly concerned that my mom’s cousin may not have fully reconciliated with God. Pending a reponse, I am considering holding my own, private novena to complete. Can some provide some (name removed by moderator)ut please? Regards to all!

You can pray the Rosary as much as you want. I think I read somewhere once that a great saint prayed the Rosary 30 times a day.

I have just recently started praying the Rosary, and I am still just trying to understand how it all works out. Can I pray the Rosary 2 times in a row, with different prayers? Like last night I prayed the Rosary twice in a row because I had two different things I wanted to pray for. That is how it is supposed to be done, right? Can I pray for two different things but during the same Rosary? Thank you!🙂
Of course not. You can put each and every one of your intentions in one Rosary. I probably have around fifteen to twenty intentions a night, and I say the Rosary or at least a decade of it.

I’m not sure you realize just how powerful the Rosary is. Saint Dominic (The founder of the Rosary and the Dominican order) was told by Mary that one simple Hail Mary had more power than all one hundred fifty Psalms.

So feel free to pray for as many things-that matter-as you feel the need to.

Rosary!!!

You can pray the rosary 100 times per day, but remember, you must meditate on each mystery, otherwise it just becomes a habit without meaning.

Say the rosary with a prayerful intention, just do not say them as you are on a time limit because then your graces are lost.

One way of geting to God is through his daughter, Mary.

Yes, the rosary is a beautiful tradition of the Catholic Church.

Be at peace and God bless y ou through the Trinity.

I stick with the fifteen decade Rosary and usually finish between 5 and 6 complete fifteen decade Rosaries a day. If I don’t have a specific intention, I offered it up for Mary’s use as she sees fit.

My Rosary is almost always on me. It sort of helps to be retired. My old employer was not very religious or even a Catholic. So he would not have allowed me to be so involved as I am now.

Your user name is Bro Justin, but you signed the post “Brother Charlers, OP”. Which one are you? You said “Be at peace and God bless you throught the Trinity” . Are you a priest or religious? OP stands for the Dominican order and also for “original post”.

How do we know that Mary asked for a third of the rosary every day and not the full rosary every day?

Heavenly days! This thread is over 4 years old. Just found my post from 6-26-11.

I no longer do 5-6 complete 15 decade Rosaries each day usually only 3. But I’m now doing the Little Office of the BVM which takes up a lot of time and timing to make the hours correctly. 🙂

Ah, well then I apologize for saying you exaggerated. That website is exaggerating. Even if it took him 10 minutes per 5 decade [which would be rushing slightly] that’s 30 minutes per 15 decade. Which adds up to just under 18 hours per day. More believable [since the math actually works here] but still unbelievable I think 🙂
Well, Padre Pio was a monastic and a wonderful saint so I would not put a miraculous number of rosaries a day past him 🙂 I have read numerous accounts from multiple Padre Pio books and websites since he is one of, if not my favorite saint and they all say this same thing that this is a legitimate thing of his multiple rosaries.

I haven’t heard of this. But if you pray a novena it can only be a good thing. The Rosary is not bound by rules only our love for our Blessed Mother and Her Son is required, There is standard form prayed when a number of people pray together. It is a wonderful form and can be used when praying the Rosary along.

I have a Rosary App on my iphone that I sometimes follow.

I wasn’t exaggerating… that statement came from a Padre Pio site. That is why I quoted it. I guess I should have added the link, too. I usually spend about 10 minutes when praying the Rosary (five decades)… but I say it is Latin, which is a little quicker for me. If I spend additional time focused on the mysteries than it takes a little longer.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that you were exaggerating; but the fact that you found a statement on a website, no matter how pious or faith filled it may appear to be, does not guarantee the veracity of the statement. The good Padre had other things he needed to do during the day; and simply accounting for the time spent elsewhere makes that claim impossible. He was a saintly man, but some of his followers get a bit carried away. The term “gilding the lily” comes to mind.

I try to say four rosaries a day, so all four mysteries, like St. John Paul II. I would like to say more, like 17 as St. Padre Pio did but right now I say four with three chaplets of divine mercy.

Before I pray the Rosary I often use each bead of the Rosary for those I am praying for. One by one I touch a bead for each of my children, my other family members, prayers for those is my Church who need prayers and so on. I do that for things that are worrying me and for the problems of the world. By doing this, I find that I can articulate my concerns more fully. Not so much for God’s or for His Blessed Mother’s understanding, but for myself. Saying my needs out loud helps me to then concentrate on the Rosary itself. Then I will pray the Rosary.

In times of great stress, fear or panic; I find reciting all 20 mysteries provide help and relief. As all children, during good times I have to try to recite one set of mysteries, the sprit is always willing but the flesh is often weak.
