I believe in tipping especially in the food industry where they don’t even make minium wage. Most of my friends will only make 3-4 dollars and hour and then they’re dependant upon tips for the rest.
i do agree with mr. pink. if its that bad they can either put in the extra effort to earn a tip or cook frys and at least get minimum wage.
although we went to casa ole tonight for dinner and our waiter did get close to a 30% tip, but only because he earned it.
fast and friendly, we never had to wait for anything, but not pushy. didnt rush the main course before we finished the appitizers, but food was hot when we got it. apparently, according to my wife, i ‘made a face’ at my tamales. i was just suprised to see a sauce on them i thought i had ordered plain. well he must have seen it too, because he brought me another one in a different sauce and a plain one at no charge. wife sprite got half empty new one on the table. and right about when we finished eating he appeared with 2 togo boxes that we did need.
if you work as a waiter i dont think that what he did is asking too much, at least not if you want to make tips. it looked like he gave everyone that kind of service. so just guessing at the rate people were moving through and the size of his area i’d bet he was making $10-20/hour. and thats around 4pm on a wedensday.
maybe if there werent actually good servers like him out there id have some more sympathy for the automatic tip idea.
