How much truth is there to this?

I got an interesting email today, and I am curious as to how much truth there is to it (truth, as in how much of it is supported by the Bible and Teachings of the Church). I personally believe the Garden of Eden story is a poem dedicated to explaining God’s creation of man and the world around him (as opposed to being a literal history lesson), so the first item in the list has me leaning towards discarding the rest of it. Here’s the email:

   10. Amos cried out in Iraq! 

   11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem. 

   12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq! 

   13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq(Jesus had been 
       in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!) 

   14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the 
       wall" in Iraq. 

   15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive 
       into Iraq. 

   16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq. 

   17. The wise men were from Iraq. 

   18. Peter preached in Iraq. 

   19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called 
       Babylon, which was a city in Iraq! 

       And you have probably seen this one. Israelis the nation most 
       often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? 
       It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the 
       Bible. 
       The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Landof Shinar, and 
       Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamiameans between the two rivers, 
       more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, 
       means country with deep roots. 

       Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very 
       significant country in the Bible. 

       No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy 
       associated it than Iraq. 

       And also... This is something to think about! Since America is 
       typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up 
       on his Muslim passages... 

       The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible) 

       Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would 
       awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout 
       the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in 
       despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the 
       lands of Allah; and there was peace. 

       (Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?! God Bless you'll Amen !

Koran 9:11??? I am not sure if you are aware of this, but the Kuran is broken into 114 books, similar to the bible, all with chapter and verse. Can you tell me which of these books contained this passage. I did a cursory search and found nothing like this passage you referenced.

Apart from the Koran passage, yes, historically speaking, all those people, places and events mentioned were in present-day Iraq. I do not believe the garden of eden was a poem used to explain God’s creation of man and the world around him. I would take it literally, although I see the possibility you are speaking of.

Scholars both protestant and catholic would weigh in one way or another. Personally, I don’t think it matters that much. The principles are still there - God made us and everything around us.

I would say don’t be too quick to judge the list based on your impression of the first line item. The other items may help you understand the first and vice versa.
 
Can’t speak for all of them, however, I do know the Mespotamia began at the junction of the Euphrates and Tigris, which is in Iraq.
 
When you get hoax emails like that, check out www.snopes.com
It usually has all the current urban legends listed. This is one of them. The geography is correct the Koran reference is not

It is sheer guesswork that Jesus is referred to in Daniel 3 - & an example of over-interpreting, to say so without qualification.​

It would be more accurate, to say that the countries which together approximate to the state of Iraq today, are mentioned in the Bible - those countries being Sumer, Babylon, Assyria. To which may be added references to the Chaldeans - in the texts of the OT referring to them, Babylonians are meant; the Chaldeans having been immigrant tribes in Babylonia some centuries before they are named in the OT​

And also… This is something to think about! Since America is

There is no reason to think the USA is anywhere referred to in the Bible. This is wholly unnecessary, because any texts used to show the USA is found in the Bible, can be shown to mean something else. It’s the sort of reasoning which makes the Meshech and Tubal of Ezekiel into “Moscow” & “Tobolsk”. These are fantasies of the sort the British-Israel people play with - they are based on ignorance of the Bible’s background, and could be corrected by two minutes with a commentary.​

Such fantasies are only possible because those who invent them know very little about the ancient Near East - nothing, perhaps, except what the Bible tells them. This is as reasonable as thinking that the NT is the only reliable source for the history of the Roman Empire. This kind of thinking can only make Christianity and the Bible ridiculous.

ISTM that attempts to see the USA in the Bible stem from a mixture of misguided patriotism, and, a lack of understanding of the OT. ##
