How often do miracles occur?

I think at some point you are going to have to accept that there are two distinct kinds of miracles.
  1. The Creation Miracle: There are miracles which relate to the creation or sustenance of contingent beings in general. The creation of the first event, and the sustenance of all secondary events and physical laws in general, can be classed as miraculous.
  2. The salvation Miracles: There are also miracles which occur only in relation to our particular existence as humans, insofar as our salvation is concerned. These miracles occur in relation to prayer, or the fulfillment of prophesy in particular.
These miracles do happen. However; In terms of tweaking secondary events in-order to suit a pre-planned path, I don’t think those kinds of miracles happen. I think God certainly works with secondary events or causes; for example, when the first suitable humanoid evolved, he gave it a soul. But i don’t believe that he forces ordinary physical events into place in order to favor a particular biological development or a physical condition. He may fine-tune physical laws in the beginning so as to make an outcome more likely or possible, or even impossible; but i believe that his primary intention for physics is that it should evolve by itself.
I think we have to allow for the fact that physical laws do not always conform to God’s will because they are blind and inflexible. That is why natural disasters occur. They could conceivably lead to immense destruction and even the extinction of all life on this planet unless God intervenes…
