How often should I go to confession? One priest says every other week, another says twice a year.
 
Go as often as you need to. In the case of the two suggestions you received, for most people one would be too frequent and the other too lax. I recommend that you try to go once a month and see how it goes. You can adjust as necessary upon the advice of your confessor.
