They were part of the church in Jerusalem. Pharisees we a powerful bunch so it would only make sense they would be part of the council.

The council had no knowledge of this doctrine otherwise why would they have to meet to decide. Paul claims he was taught directly by God. Again if the council had to decide on the doctrine that Paul was already teaching then obviously they were not teaching it themselves.

If God knocked you off your horse and told you what He had planned for your life then brought it to pass then I think you would believe. Paul and Barnabas were fully convinced of their doctrine as by their tenacious defense of it. Do you think the church could have over turned a doctrine of God? I say no! Obviously God used this event to further extend and confirm the gospel or grace apart from works of the law.

Acts chapters 10 & 11 denies that the pharisees in Jerusalem did not know that one need not be circumsised. St.Peter already told them that.So that alone says it was those certain others that traveled with St.Paul from Antioch to Jerusalem were the ones to bring up the question just like i told you.Acts 15:24 …whom we have given no instruction to..

I do not believe Paul rejected church authority per se. He was an equal part of the church as the apostles. He certainly had equal authotity as his call was directly from God alone. When you read the Acts 15 account you see Paul was on a mission. The church sent him to the council. The church he founded. He was on a FYI mission to demonstrate first hand what God did for the gentiles apart from the law.

Sorry St.Paul did found the Church in Antioch it was already there just as the Church was already in the towns they passed through on their way to Jerusalem.

The church is the body of Christ. I don’t see it in the light that you do as some how being equal to God.

Jericho - stop inventing your own myths and READ the BIBLE.

Paul was persecuting the Early Church which at the time was referred to as The Way. This was the name the early Christian community gave itself and referred to itself as. Whether you like it or not - they WERE an organization. Acts 2:42-47 tells us thay they lived a communal life, sharing their money and property.

This Protestant myth that they were not an organized community is just that - a myth. A myth perpetuated by people refusing to acknowledge the written word of God.

And those men,women and children were not part of Christ Church? HUH? And unfortunately,the early church did not teach it in your light that the church is less than Jesus. How? Jesus and the Church are not two separate-competing entities. Again,the church is the Mystical Body of Christ,not an opposing entity.

The “mode” was through the Holy Spirit, yes? Paul received revelation and then, infallibly, wrote the Scriptures.

And, as the Scriptures do not say how the Holy Spirit infused His knowledge into Paul, it’s possible that the Holy Spirit used others–such as the Apostles, perhaps??–to teach Paul.

Would that not be possible?
