How reliable is this Study Edition?

I don’t know about this book. However, read the “Controversy” section of this article, and decide if you want to read a book written by him:

Considering the information in the article, I would not read the book myself nor would I buy it or recommend it to anyone else.

Take this into consideration: the USCCB itself disapproved of the book. It does not bear a nihil obstat or an imprimatur.

I’d stay far from that book and its author.
 
You can trust it to be thoroughly heterodox…
I bought mine new-it was recommended by a catholic ‘book’ store owner(that went belly-up later - deservedly. )
I was on my way into the church and bought it to find some information. NOT GOOD.
Now its useful to understand how the heretics in the church rationalize.
 
The book is very liberal.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding the book. I doubt you will find many supporters in the “Traditional Catholicism” forum.
