I’m kinda new to coming back to Catholicism and just want some advice on how to celebrate this day.

You’re obliged to fast on Good Friday. The particulars of this depend on your Rite, and the prescriptions of your Bishop.

You can also observe optional devotions such as the Rosary, or self-mortify yourself through self-denial. I would suggest reading more Scripture than you usually would. Focus on the part of Jesus’ crucifixion. Really, this part is up to you. Do what makes you holier.

I searched for the stations of the cross online this morning and prayed through them. It took like 45 minutes.

We spent the day as a family yesterday and talked about Jesus. Took the kids out for hotcakes for breakfast ( I don’t make the kids fast) took miss 15 who is non catholic out for coffee and answered all her questions like why do we celebrate with easter eggs ( I explained that centuries ago during lent they probably wernt able to eat any animal products for the 40 days of lent so they would’ve preserved the eggs in brine they most probably ate the eggs on the Sunday to break the fast this was the most logical explanation I could come up with )
We took all the kids for a drive and went to the beach and ended the day with a family movie
And today ( Saturday) the kids and I get to deliver easter eggs to the residents of the local rest homes ( I love my voluntary work it’s so good to be able to take the kids out so they can learn)

Although mr 6 is super cheeky he seems to be the joker in the family from.the back of the car yesterday I got…
(Mr 6)mum mum mum im clever just like Jesus
(Me) really why
(Mr 6) I can turn water into something that rhymes with wine
(Me) really what’s that
(Mr 6) urine mum I need to go to the toilet

A couple of suggestions:

If it hasn’t yet been held where you live, attend the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion. It really is a beautiful liturgy. Attendance is not obligatory but I encourage you to go if you can.

Pray and meditate on the Stations of the Cross. You can do this in community at your parish church if it has not already been done today (I don’t know where you live), or anywhere else if it has. I was unable to leave home this afternoon so I prayed the Stations at home using texts I found online. There are several versions available.

There are other good ideas mentioned in this thread, and many more here:

How do you keep Good Friday holy? Spirituality
Live Stations of the Cross this afternoon, and communion this evening, Meanwhile trying to fit a Rosary in between caring for toddlers who are constantly getting into things. I hope it doesn’t rain so I can take the 5 year old to the Stations outside.

Consider listening to sacred music like a setting of the Stabat Mater or one of Bach’s Passion. The latter is lengthy but maybe listen to a section or two. (It’s divided into different parts.) It’s like listening to a mini reflection in music form. Bach is well esteemed too in terms of music.

This version has a translation and scrolls so it’s easier to follow along.

Some sort of self sacrifice in general. I did something I really didn’t want to do, to make things easier for someone else. I also fasted

Fasting, watch the Passion of Christ, meditate on the Stations of the Cross. It is great if you can go to the Good Friday service at your parish.
