I’m a junior in high school, I was born catholic but more recently began to embrace the faith. I have been praying the rosary every day for an hour and have been asking God where he wants me to go in life. About a week ago while praying and asking God of this, I felt a strong calling to the religious life, to be a sister. In my head I immediately responded yes, but I am still trying to discern this calling further.
I want to contact the priest of my parish as a spiritual advisor, but I'm kind of scared to approach him after mass or to call and make an appointment with him. On our parish website it gives his email and I was wondering if I could set up an appointment through his email or if I could even just bring up my calling through the email. Any advice from someone who has spoken to their priest about a calling to the religious life?

Hanna, do not be afraid of your priest he is there to help you. But by all means if you are more comfortable approaching the conversation through email by all means start there. As you talk to him it will be easier to approach the situation in person and to speak freely of your calling. Peace and Blessings on you as you begin a new journey into the path of Christ.

You can certainly send him email or ask after Mass. Any good priest should be more than happy to talk to you about discerning a vocation.

Here’s the (slightly edited) text of an e-mail I sent:
Dear Father
I would like to arrange a time to meet with you to discuss my vocation to the priesthood. I am happy to talk over the phone if you prefer and can be reached on my mobile XXXX or at work on XXXXX.
Otherwise I look forward to arranging a time to meet with you. I am available most weekdays either first thing in the morning or in the evening after work. Alternatively I am generally available at any time on the weekends.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely

Thank you all for your advice! I’m going to email my priest tomorrow to try to set up an appointment, God bless you all.(:
