How should we feel about putting our pet down?

Hi! Everyone,
I just had to do the un-thinkable two weeks ago. My dog “TOBY” of 12 years got very sick with Pancreatic Cancer & had a mild heart attack. His stomach swelled up & the Vet said, he’d be lucky to live another few days…
So! we took him in for a ultra scan to verify this & it was true.
So! we took him home for one more night with us & then the next morning,we took him back to the vets to put him to sleep for good…
I feel so terrible for this… I feel like i murdered my dog. He was my everything… I feel like I played Jack Kovorian…
