Hello everyone!
How should we pray according to the will of God? How do we know if the things we are praying for are God’s will for us?
We know that God’s will is perfect but He also insists that we ask, not because He needs to know our situation, but because we need the spiritual discipline of asking.
My heart longs for a desire that I hope is according to God’s will and I believe we should pray and express our desires to God. However, how do we pray for that?
I have been taking these verses from the Bible as reference:
1. Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

2. Luke 11:9-10
So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

3. John 15:7
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

4. Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Does this mean that I can ask and present my wish and desire to God? It is true that He will always hear our prayers but will I be selfish or egoistic in asking for what my heart truly desire?

I appreciate any thoughts or insights for this! Thank you and God bless.

"Dear God, I ask that … (insert your ask here)… if it be your will. If it’s somehow not your will, please show me what I should ask for/ do instead. (Or, please help me cope with the situation.) Thank you in advance. "

In your prayer say: Lord, grant us what you will, as much as you will, when you will.

Jesus modeled the best petitionary prayer in the Agony in the Garden. So a great prayer is: “Lord, please give me x, but above all let your will be done.”
