How soon did you get Married?

How soon after you met your future spouse did you marry him/her?
I met my husband, John, at the end of August We were engaged in November and Married in January. (5 mos total) We will have been married 8 years in 2005 and have 5 wonderful children.
 
Wow, your diocese must have different marriage prep requirements than mine.

My husband and I dated for 7 months before getting engaged, and then married 11 months after that. Our parish requests that all engaged couples wishing to marry in the Church meet with the priest at least 6 months in advance for the first pre-marital counseling sessions, though at least 8-10 months in advance preferred. We had to meet with our priest several times (and as he is the pastor of a 2300 family parish, we had to work around his schedule), as well as attend archdiocesan-sponsored pre-cana and NFP sessions.
 
My husband started dating Feb. 16, 1999. We were engaged April 14th, 1999 and got married July 25th, 1999.

My husband was 26 when were got married and I was 22, so it’s not as if we just left the crib, though.

PS-I got pregnant on the honeymoon and gave birth to our first son in April, 2000! That’s what you get for getting a private cottage with a swimming pool and a jacuuzi the first night of your honeymoon! :dancing:

We knew each other one year and have been married for 20+ years.
 
I have friends who met and were engaged in 3 weeks. And married a few months after that.

I, however, am still rolling solo so I can’t answer the thread for myself.
 
i met my fiance when we were 13 and 16. we didnt start dating till 2 years into college though. we got engaged the day after Christmas last year and will be married next month!
 
My fiance and i started dating in March 2002, got engaged in March 2004, and will be married in August 2005, making it about 3 years, 5 months.

My husband and I were married in a court house…not the Catholic Church.:o

My husband proposed to me a week after we met, but we were engaged for 4 years before we got married (we were both in college at the time and wanted to finish our education before getting married). I always joke that he was extremely slow. We’ve been married now for 26 years so I guess a long engagement isn’t necessarily deterimental.:love:
 
My husband and I went on our first date Sept 21st 2001… We where engaged May 2002, and married Sept 21st 2002, one year after our first date… We where married in the Catholic Church too, my priest knows me very well… My husband and I knew eachother since junior highschool… We remet at our 10 year highschool reunion, which was four days after 9/11…

Spouse #2: 3.5 years
 
my husband and I met on a blind date on Feb 2 2002. Within a month I knew we’d be married but we didn’t get engaged til March 6 2003. We were married on July 10, 2004. THe long engagment was due to the fact that I had to be in NJ for my first year of grad school and he still had another year of TA’ing at Notre Dame where he was in grad school. Plus, in the area where we were married, you have to book the church and reception sites FAR in advance.
 
We met in May of '98, got engaged in December '98, and married in July '99.

I was 22 and he was 23.

Met her in 1972… married her in 1978… didn’t want to rush into anything to quickly… 👍
 
We met at a Christmas Dance on Dec 18, 1994.
Got engaged Feb 11, 1995.
Got married Sept 7, 1996.
 
We “introduced” ourselves in May, 2002.
We met face to face in July.
We knew that each other was “the one” by August.
Engaged in November,
Married in August 2003…
First child due December 2004!
